“Well that escalated quickly. Was flying drones recreationally since 2015 when in Feb. 2022 the opportunity to fly professionally presented itself. Having flown RC aircraft since I was young and having that capability to now direct an airborne camera was an organic merging of skills."
Working as a media consultant throughout the 1990s with oil & gas corporations (Shell, Schlumberger, National Oilwell Varco, Baker Hughes) developing advertising, training, and user interface design a unique set of skills was developed. Following the tech meltdown of 2001 Bart then took to the field with hands on skills learned from previously taught materials. By leveraging this knowledge and adding skills in the construction and transportation sectors (CDL A – Hazmat, EPA 608, OSHA, etc.) a highly focused technical eye was brought to bear.
When I’m not doing the drone thing you’ll typically find me on the water in a human propelled boat with a few friends. Avid ultra-marathon canoe and kayak racer having completed 5 – 260+ mile Texas Water Safari competitions, Colorado River 100 & Winter 100, and overall winner of the 2022 Suwanee River 230. If you were wondering about river racing and drones I can tell you it is an extremely difficult sport to fly and photograph.
